365 Lolita Lifestyle Challenge - Local Lolita Haunts
Today, I will be sharing you some places I like to visit while out in lolita, starting with Uptown Normal, IL. Uptown Normal stretches about three blocks off of the ISU campus and is central to its small business initiative. It's got all sorts of cute gift shops, restaurants, the amtrak station, the university art gallery, and even an old-fashioned movie theater. Interesting things happen throughout the year such as a beer tasting festival, art festival, horse carriage rides, and a farmer's market that runs from May through October. The round-a-bout (or circle drive - as everyone there calls it) has a fountain that doubles as the town's storm drainage; fishes swim in it during the warmer months to keep it clean of excess algae. Even in the dead of winter, Uptown Normal is still quite charming with its Christmas lit trees that line the sidewalks. I think my favorite shops there Waiting Room Records and Babbitt's Books. The Coffee Shop isn't as nice looking as a Starbucks, but I love that I can get free hot water refills for tea and I can get all sorts of loose leaf teas and coffee beans for a reasonable price by the ounce.
Thirty-Thirty Coffee on Main - Peoria, IL
I don't get much time to go out in lolita anymore, but on the rare days off that I don't have errands to run, I like going there to sit down and get a delicious cup of mocha. 3030 on Main Street has a reputation of snobby baristas, but I think that the cute latte art and the pretty environment makes up for it.
